Employment Opportunity - Maintenance & Facilities Worker

Full-Time • Timmins Region

Location: Timmins, ON

Job type: Full-time–35 hours per week

What you’ll do in the role

 

·   Coordinate, perform, assign, recommend and record routine, preventative and urgent facilities repairs, maintenance, troubleshooting and housekeeping on architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical systems in the most cost-effective and efficient manner.

·   Assist in the preparation of equipment and maintenance schedules, coordination of maintenance projects in order to maintain facility components and equipment; ensuring equipment is in proper working order; repairing and maintaining equipment and facilities as necessary and source contractors if necessary.

·   Completes minor repairs to buildings and equipment including, but not limited to interior and exterior painting; drywall/plaster patching; tile replacement; door and door hardware; minor adjustments to mechanical and electrical systems where a licensed trade is not required etc.

·   Respond to inquiries regarding conditions/maintenance requirements, analyzes the situation(s), implements problem solving techniques (i.e. researching, testing, contacting appropriate parties etc.) and makes recommendations to the Maintenance & Facilities Supervisor.

·   Performs regular inspection of active work sites and reports back to the Maintenance & Facilities Supervisor.

·   Maintain current knowledge and awareness of relevant legislation, regulations and best practices.

·   Respond to facility related alarms, make appropriate on-site assessments and inform the Manager Facilities and Energy Management.

·   Maintain an accurate inventory of tools and supplies, including custodial items, required for day-to-day operations, as well as records pertaining to warranties and works performed at each location.

·   Setup, takedown, and other related facilities operations associated with special events and programming.

·   Winterizing and de-winterizing seasonal facilities and infrastructure.

·   Assist the Supervisor in arranging the annual certifications as required and conducting regular inspections of safety devices within municipal facilities including but not limited to, defibrillators (AED’s), extinguishers, first aid kits and periodic testing of emergency lighting and fire pull stations.

·   Assist in performing and/or arranging for property maintenance and repairs as required that relate to facility maintenance.

·   Special projects and other duties as assigned.

What you bring to the table

 

·   Post-secondary education related to facility management and/or skilled trade with 1-3 years experience in facility management, trade or general construction.

·   Red Seal endorsement in HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical or similar trade considered an asset.

·   Cultural awareness / knowledge of First Nations culture.

·   Knowledge of facility operations including facility automation, security, building maintenance and risk management gained through experience in property/building maintenance.

·   Familiarity with the Ontario Building Code, Ontario Fire Code as well as constructions forms and standards.

·   Ability to work collaboratively and to elicit cooperation from others.

·   Ability to organize and prioritize a variety of competing and urgent demands.

·   Ability to lift to 50 pounds. Above would require team lift.

·   Must be able to work under minimal supervision.

·   Must possess a valid class “G” driver’s license.

·   Must be willing to work flexible hours.
